Can We Cooperate With Him?
Imagine a family where father and mother rise early for heartfelt Bible study and prayer, later joined by their children. Picture a father kneeling with his family, presenting the burdens, plans, and praises of their home before the Heavenly Father.
Visualize a home where love reigns — where children are respectful and obedient, the mother is nurturing, submissive in the biblical sense of supportive partnership, and the father reveals Christlike tenderness, strength, and affection. A home where guests find warmth and hospitality, and strangers sense the peace of heaven.
Imagine a family known in the community not for wealth or success, but for their unshakable Christian principles. Where the children are trained to be gospel ambassadors — carrying light to their schools, neighborhoods, and friends — because the home has taught them to live purposefully, dress modestly, eat healthfully, and speak kindly.
Now ask yourself: can such a home exist in our world today? In this age of confusion and compromise, such homes are rare, but not impossible. If only we would learn to collaborate with God from the beginning — in courtship, marriage, and parenting — homes that reflect heaven would become more common.
“It is by faithfulness to duty in the parental relationship that a man is best prepared for the guidance of souls.
”
A godly man is a gift from God — and so is a virtuous woman. Only through divine guidance can one find a spouse who truly fears the Lord. Such godly parents, cooperating with heaven, are entrusted with raising children who reflect the image of their Maker.
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
”
Parents are Heaven’s appointed teachers, called to model the love, order, and character of our Heavenly Father. By their instruction and example, they reveal God to their little ones.
“The greatest evidence of the power of Christianity that can be presented to the world is a well-ordered, well-disciplined family.
”
Yes, such a home can exist. But only if we choose to partner with God — in prayer, purity, and purpose — as we build the foundation of family life on Christ, the solid Rock.
